Understand the growing story behind wasabi.

WASABI FIELD EditorialReviewed: 2026-10-13

Trace the ingredient back to its growing context. Start with the producer’s description of place and method rather than assuming all wasabi has one story.

Look at place and water

MAFF describes traditional Shizuoka cultivation using spring water and beds built along mountain slopes. This is a regional system, not a claim that every wasabi farm uses the same method.

Do not infer a method from a photograph

Green leaves beside water do not verify the origin or growing conditions of a delivered product. Ask who grew it, where, and what information is available about the actual methods.

Learn before making farm claims

Our future farm project begins with learning from growers and investigating possible sites. No site or cultivation method is settled. Real visits and trials will be documented only after they happen.

Questions & answers

Are the images photographs of your farm?
